Hägen Wolf is proud to announce its Charity of the Year for 2022 is Leeds Mencap.
Leeds Mencap is an independent, local charity which supports children and young adults with learning disabilities, and their families. The charity delivers a wide range of services across the Leeds area providing advice, resources, support, and long-term help to those they work with. It is now over 65 years old and supports more than 450 families and individuals in the local community. It is estimated that approximately 2.16% of adults and 2.5% of children in the UK have a learning disability, so their work is invaluable.
In pursuit of its mission to improve the lives of those with learning disabilities, the charity’s impact is wide-reaching, with the centre running playschemes, holiday clubs, coffee mornings, youth groups and a sibling’s group, to name a few, as well as a wide range of fundraising activities throughout the year and a go to social media Facebook page which families can turn to for reassurance, ongoing practical tips, and support.
In 2022, it has launched a SEND Toy and Resource library, which contains over a hundred items which can be used and borrowed by families, specially selected to enhance development and support at home.
Matt Pugh, founder and Managing Partner said “We are absolutely delighted to pledge our support to Leeds Mencap in 2022. The charity relies heavily on fundraising from the local community and businesses to be able to provide the invaluable services it delivers. Every penny we are able to raise will make a huge difference and go a long way to supporting its worthy mission.”
In recognition of the amazing work that Leeds Mencap does, and the importance of CSR in the local community, 2022 will see our colleagues taking part in a variety of activities to support and raise money for the charity.
